Restaurant suggestion

Can you recommend a restaurant for lunch either by the Hollywood Cemetery or the Virginia State Capitol? Also, for dinner near the Hilton Garden Inn? And is there anywhere to walk around at night near the downtown area?

There are many good places to eat around Hollywood Cemetary, the State Capital, and the Hilton Garden Inn. Many places are located in the Fan area of Richmond, which is also a great place to walk around.

I'm not really sure what cuisine you like, but you may want to refer to UrbanSpoon Richmond to get a good idea of a place to try for lunch and dinner. You can sort by area and cuisine. Just look for ones with good ratings!

As far as walking around Downtown- the best area would be around Shockoe Slip. If you walk around past 10pm, you will start having to "deal" with the bar crowds. There isn't much going on right around Hilton Garden Inn, but Shockoe Slip is nearby.

Give us some ideas of your food interests and we can help you out more accurately!

Also, one of my favorite things to do involving Hollywood Cemetary, is grabbing a box lunch from "Sally Bell's Kitchen" and eating it on one of the benches or walls, at the cemetary, overlooking the James River.

I love Sally Bell's for a simple, made from scratch, traditional meal! Chicken Salad, Egg Salad, Devileg Eggs, DELICIOUS potato salad, desserts, etc etc etc.

Thank you for your responses. They are appreciated. It will be on a Saturday so "Sally Bell's Kitchen" won't be open but loved that idea. We like just a simple sandwich or salad. We will also check out the Shockoe Slip area.

Hollywood Cemetery is located in a part of town called Oregon Hill. A couple of excellent places you might consider are Mamma Zu for some of the best Italian in Richmond , or EAT.

The Hilton Garden Inn is only steps away from a new booming area for restaurants on Grace ST. Look for Pasture or Rappahannock, both excellent choices.

I second Tango's choices in Mamma Zu Rappohannock and Pasture as dinner choices.

Mamma Zu serves up excellent Italian food, but its more of a dinner spot, as Italian for lunch can knock you out! Rappohannock is a semi-new restaurant opened with an oyster them. They grow their own own oysters in the Rappohannock river about an hour away.

Both of those places are great dinner spots, but they are guaranteed to be VERY busy, so plan on waiting and having a drink while you wait for your table.

For lunch, you may want to go from Hollywood Cemetery to the Carytown/Fan area. There are places scattered all around, so you can browse a few menus while checking out the interesting shops mixed in.

I really like EAT, as Tango suggested. It is very close to Hollywood. Also, Cafe Rustica is on Main Street, close to Brown's Island and the Civil War Museum.
