Bugibba bus station is next to Qawra and buses run frequently from there to many places - see tripadvisor.com/Travel-g190311-c109681/Malta… .

However during August the buses will be very very busy, but if you are patient and get on at the bus station you should be able to get a seat. Reliability depends on the traffic but on the main routes the buses are frequent enough not to have to worry about reliability.

The weekly bus ticket is really worth getting. At 6.50 euro it is less than one euro a day and gives unlimited rides all day until the night service about 11 O`clock.

The service is reliable . easy to use although sometimes they can get a bit crowded,

Have a look at the Questions and Answers at the top of the Malta page for ideas of what to see.

Malta has more places of historic interest than anywhere on earth for it`s size.

A ferry trip over to Gozo would be a good idea as would a harbour cruise from Sliema..

There is a hop on hop off tourist bus service that will take you to a lot of sites of interest and you get a free harbour cruise.

Have an enjoyable stay

You've had lots of suggestions, but make sure you allow at least a day just to wander around Valletta and get a real taste of Malta's history. Likewise allow some time to wander around the three cities - often missed by visitors but well worth a visit (take the ferry from Valletta).

Yes, the ferry is accessed via the new lift from the Upper Barrakka gardens in Valletta - free going down. The wharf is behind the building facing you as you come through the arch. Fares are €1.50 one way or €2.80 return - keep your ticket as you get the lift free with it or else you pay €1. Get off the 2nd stop at Birgu. The crossing only takes 10 mins and they run every half hour. The timetable is at http://vallettaferryservices.com
