family self catering holiday to Bugibba

Hi, hoping someone can help answer a few questions. We're really looking forward to booking our holiday to Malta but was wondering if anyone knows what the Solair Holiday Complex is like?Tripadvisor doesn't seem to have any recent reviews and the old ones don't sound too good. We don't have a massive budget but aren't looking for luxury. We want somewhere that is clean (air conditioning would be a massive plus if possible, not a deal breaker though) and in a good location, somewhere just to put our heads down of a night so we can use all our time taking advantage of all Malta has to offer. At the moment, also looking at the Mavina and the Bugibba. Any thoughts anyone? Any thoughts would be appreciated as would any tips on must see stuff for us to do (mum, dad and 5 and 6yr olds). Thanks in advance!

Hi MBK80,

If you are looking for a self catering holiday check out the Sunseeker Holiday Complex In Bugibba which is very popular and is a 5 mins walk to Bugibba Square.

The Solair is in a residential area about a 10 min walk to Bugibba Square.

Have a good holiday.

When are you going? We find Aircon a must in summer, but it does depend on a number of factors. The worst combination is a room (or apartment) with a big patio window facing the sun in the afternoon, which we had once - it was then like trying to sleep in a greenhouse, even if you kept the curtains closed. Pretty much unbearable. However budget is of course a factor and aircon rooms cost more.....

Stuff to do? Maybe some tours and trip to Gozo? A fiesta for the fireworks? Plenty of visits to the sea and try snorkelling. Popeye village? Valletta and the war museums, armoury in the palace - but budget for entry costs.

I'd expect the Solair to be pretty basic. The later reviews seem to suggest it was at least clean. Tiled floors, but we generally prefer that and easy to see that it's clean compared to carpet, and tends to be cooler in the summer months. I suspect the other places you mention will be very similiar. They all get some mixed reviews. Not much in it location wise.
