Trip in May

My wife and I are taking our three grandsons to Sao Bernadino for the last week in May and wondered what people think we could take them to see.

We have stayed in the area before and will take them to Obidos and to Lisbon on the train for a day but would like to do a few other things as well.

Thanks

Paul

The municipal council page has some info (in english) http://www.cm-peniche.pt/

The obvious place is Berlengas http://www.viamar-berlenga.com/uk/; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLuQUrnT424

"to Lisbon on the train for a day" you have buses from Peniche, no need to go to Óbidos to take the train. http://www.rede-expressos.pt/default.aspx

2. Re: Trip in May

Thanks for your info 64novpt we will definitely visit Berlengas if the weather is ok.

As I will have a hire car it looks better value for us to drive to the outskirts of Lisbon and use the local transport as it will be €70 plus on the bus so wondered if you could suggest somewhere (did think of the airport as I know it quite well).

Thanks

Thought I would answer my own request and give a quick trip report.

If you want a quiet holiday in a village with pleasant people you will enjoy it here.

There is really only one proper restaurant which also has a super little cafe and frequented by a lot of the village characters called Mare Viva, you can also get snacks at the Bar Dos Frades but this was only open at the weekend at this time of year and the beach bar did not open until the day we went home.

The sports club UDCSB was our main choice for a beer or two and a tostas mistas and a cake and was very enjoyable with some very nice people.

As we had our grandsons with us we did eat in our apartment quite a lot and found the local butchers and the mini market perfectly acceptable and at reasonable prices.

I would definitely return here.
