Second week of July???

Is there something going on in Atlanta the second week of July? I've noticed that a few of the hotels have very limited availability or they're sold out. A couple of them have increased their rates for Wednesday. Should I pick a different week?

atlanta.net/visitors/calendarofevents_listin…

the above is a comprehensive list of most scheduled events, it does not account for people choosing Atlanta as a vacation destination. I imagine what is filling the hotels is the BB&T Tennis tournament. It starts on the 14th and runs through the 22nd, so the next week will not help you.

You may want to move your search the the "Perimeter Area" and use MARTA (the tournament is at Atlantic Station which is downtown/midtown area)

The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market runs from July 10-18.

That explains it. Downtown is usually flooded with people attending the Gift Mart. monkeytoz I'd recommend that you go ahead and get your aquarium/etc tickets reserved.
