Need advice on architecture/buildings and/or neighborhoods

My husband likes architecture and distinctive neighborhoods. We’ve taken the architectural boat tour of downtown Chicago , and enjoy walking through some of the older brownstone neighborhoods of Brooklyn . Are there any areas of downtown Atlanta (my sense is that downtown is pretty modern) or residential neighborhoods around the city that anyone this board would recommend?

Virginia Highlands and Morningside have many 30s and 40s homes. Druid Hills likewise on a grander scale.

These are great walking tours - and can serve as suggestions if you can't make the tour days/times -

Definitely take a tour of the Fox Theater

If you are on Facebook, you may want to friend the Architecture Tourist -http://architecturetourist.blogspot.com/

If you are a fan or Portman, be sure to visit the Hyatt Regency downtown and look for his other buildings -

I'd recommend Inman Park, Atlanta's first suburb

Depending on when you are visiting, many of the intown neighborhoods have festivals which also include home and/or garden tours -
