Car Hire Help please

I am travelling with my family, landing at Alicante, in August for a 2 week stay in Javea. I was wondering what recommendations anyone has on car hire? Im not too bothered on what car we hire, as long as it can accomodate 2 adults, 2 children and a baby.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as some of the usual sites seem to be quite expensive - but clearly I understand that the time of year is counting against me!

Thanks in advance

I take it you're looking at airport car hire?

take a look at:

http://www.mrcar.es/

http://en.robertocar.com/

http://www.drivalia.com/

http://www.opencar.es/

Not the easiest websites to use, but all fairly reliable local companies, with cars that will get you around for a week.

I always find www.economycarhire.com to be the cheapest. Make sure tick airport pick up unless you don't mind a short transfer to collect the car.

Remember that when you collect the car, they will try to sell you extra insurance to cover windscreen, loss of keys, wheel trims etc.. This can add an extra £3 per day to the rental cost. I never take it out and have never had any problems. They do however take a large security deposit on your credit card for doing this.

If you don't feel comfortable not having the extra insurance, you can buy your own cover at a fraction of the cost online before you go. Just google moneysavingexpert for more information on how to get the cheapest car hire and tricks of the trade.

We always use economy car hire.....will be using them in 3 weeks......last used them in October....I wasn't happy with the car ( just my preference ) they changed it ....with cabriolet.....would have cost me an extra £300 ......one year they up graded us to a BMW instead of a ford.......

Economy is a broker using various local agencies, some good some bad. I found they would tell me which cars were with which agency when I emailed. It was then surprisingly cheaper via Economy Cars rather than with the agency direct. Their insurance is also better value.

Yes, Economy is a broker for all different agencies, like the above post says "some bad some good".....if you do have problem with the car or agency then contact Economy car hire direct in UK ( I emailed them) and let them sort the problem out with agency.....exactly what we did in October and unsurprisingly the agency bent over backwards and gave us a cabriolet instead of a hatchback we had paid for.

You can be fleeced for hiring car seats for kids. It's sometimes cheaper to take your own with you - some airlines do it for free. And you then know your seats are safe!!

HI,

I had a dilema about this rip off.. after a lot of research i have booked with Costa-Blanca-Transfers. I was a bit suspicious after someone recommended them as they seemed to only post to recommend the company BUT...

Fair fuel policy

free car seat

no queing

they dont whack the price of the car up if you dont buy their petrol.

I have book a mini car with car seat fore a week for £114.

"*New Fuel Policy: We do not charge you for fuel.

All we ask is that you return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel in the tank that was in, when we hand over the vehicle.

The Price includes unlimited Kilometers, all taxes and full comprehensive insurance."
