Health Insurance

Hi

Having always holidayed in the

Canary Islands for last 10 years

we carried a E111 card in case

of needing hospital treatment.

How does this stand in Turkey as

i gather the E111 only covers

European countries.

Is there an alternative they use

in Turkey if ever treatment is

needed in hospital.

E111 is only for EU countries so you need to get Travel Insurance that covers you for Turkey.

Some insurance companies still class it as Europe which is cheaper than having to purchase Worldwide.

Be sure to tell them about any pre existing conditions.

I always tell them that I'm going to turkey just to make sure as sometimes it's included in Europe and other times not. Angie

Just for clarification it's not E111 any more it changed to EHIC back in 2006. It's free any covers EEA countries only plus Switzerland, it doesn't cover Turkey.

If you search EHIC the top hits are all scam merchants who charge to get you a free card! This link takes you to NHS site.
