Icmeler Beach & Devamli Hotel

Hi,

We are visiting at the end of June and would like to spend most of our days at the beach as we enjoy swimming. Wondering about how safe it is for a weak swimmer; is it calm and clear? Are there nicer parts than others? Is it very busy - can you get sunbeds easily and are they free? Does it have any fish to see and is it worth taking a snorkel? Is it the only beach in walking distance - we hope to stay at Devamli but have heard the pool is small and cold???

Oh that's more than enough q's for now. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Im just back this morning and the best beach by far that we found was the Deniz Kapisi beach. It is situated and the far right hand side of the bay.

The beds are brand new with thick mattresses and they are free.

Its the only beach I have seen proper sand which is imported but lovely.

There is a lovely restaurant here with good food and has an upstairs terrace with lovely views over the bay.

I dont swim but there was plenty people swimming in the cordoned off area.

We have stayed at the Devamli a couple of times but their pool is small and is overlooked by customers in the Sports Bar.The is a small decked are at the back of the hotel which may be partly shaded due to the foliage.

Hi

Thanks for the info about the beach. Sorry to be cheeky but as you are just back can you advise if its better to change £ sterling to lira out there then take lira? As you've stayed at Davamli do you know if they have safes in the room or safe deposit boxes?

Many thanks again.

Dont know about the Devamli Goodfoodie but on the money side it is always best to take sterling and change it over there, you get a better rate in Icmeler, just take about £100 in lira with you to see you through the first day or two and always change your money at the small supermarkets as you get a much better rate than the exchange shops.

We always change our money in the small supermarkets or restaurants and bars we use.

Always ask what the rate is first as although it may only be a slight difference it mounts up over the holiday.

We got 2.75tl all holiday.

Dont whatever you do change your sterling at the change offices as they are known to rip you off.

The Devamli safes are in reception.

If you do book ask for a high floor on the back of the hotel as these rooms have a lovely view of the village and hills. They also seem bigger rooms as we found the other floors to have small rooms.

Thanks for information so far. Few more q's on Devamli - have read the pool is cold (?) and deep - does it have a shallow end? Also is there is a whirlpool on the roof , have seen a picture on the website but doesn't make it clear if its for general use? Is it possible to swim in the evening?

Thanks again.
