Last week of September in Lake Powell---too Late?

We're planning to go to Lake Powell at the end of September. Is that too late for swimming, boating, skiing, etc?

September is still a good time to go. Average air temps are 88/60 and the water averages 76. The crowds thin out too after school starts.

Great time to visit. Nights will begin to cool down too.

We did a 5 day houseboat trip, (some years ago) the last week of September. Day time temps were mid 80's. Water temp was high 70's. Evenings and early morning 60-70.

Perfect time to go!

I agree with everyone here...September might be the perfect time to go..

..only downsides are slightly shorter days in late September (less than 12 hours, just like early to mid-March) and the possibility of a cooler night or two...which might actually be a good thing...

But the crowds are gone, and the light for photography is better than in the summer, because the sun is a little lower...

September is wonderful.

We even love boating there in Oct. The water gets a bit refreshing, but after years of Lake Tahoe we don't mind a brisk swim.

If you're after Labor Day, you'll be sharing it with far less people.

Just three words re: September: FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Or how about... not too late!

If you have your heart set on a multi-day houseboat trip though, hope you have reservations - that is PRIME time of year and houseboats do get booked up to a year in advance.

At some point the first winter storm comes down into the mid-west. Late September is a real possiblity for this. Southern Utah will get the tail end of that and temperatures will drop 10 degrees.
