Remember that Cubanet (the source of this report) is an anti-government propaganda website - its reports may not be unbiased.

I just checked with my county health office--immunization section. Cholera immunization is no longer available in the U.S. due to some problems with the previous medication used. Maybe that's why your GP is not giving it in England.

Hola

". Protection against cholera lasts for 6 months. A single booster dose can be given if the last dose was given between 6 months and 5 years earlier."

Have taken Dukoral for some time never a problem...75 bucks over the counter at the drug store.

cheers.

It's prescription here and I don't think many gps will give you it if you are just going to a resort. It's £50 odd if you go to a travel clinic

bring a bunch of loperamide and electrolytes and you are good to go in case you do get bowel issues.

kokopeli: Dukoral was not approved for sale / use in the US because of it's limited efficacy. I believe the conclusion was that while it was of some benefit, that benefit was offset by travelers complacency as a result of taking it. Obviously, the Canadian and UK drug approval process concluded otherwise.
