Fairmont Kea Lani Garden View Rooms/Boogie Board Rentals?

Has anyone stayed in the garden view rooms at the Kea Lani? I believe they call these the "Fairmont Suites'. Were they truly garden view? Has anyone ever received an upgrade from these rooms? Also, how much do they charge for the boogie board rentals?

Don't know answers for the KL but you can rent boggie boards from Snorkel Bob's or Maui Dive shop for $5 per day or 15 per week(might be 20 per week)

I've been upgraded at both the Kea Lani and the Orchid in the past, but for our upcoming trip we decided not to chance it nd just booked an ocean view since upgrades might be harder o come by over he 4th of July. I recommend signing up for the Fairmont President's Club if you haven't already.

Aloha, to help assist with your questions, I would like to inform you we are in the process of going through a rebranding of the suite categories which will be implemented for stays after May 31, 2012. We feel in doing so it will help to better exceed guest expectations with regards to what room view they will be receiving. Please also know upgrades are subject to availability based on room category, booking packages or programs. We also encourage guests to join Fairmont Presidents Club (a completely free loyalty program) to receive benefits, privileges and savings during their stay. There is a boogie board rental fee that is $9/hour or $20/day, which is very comparable to other resorts on Maui. Please contact one of our reservations specialists if you should need any further assistance. Mahalo

Is the beach in front of hotel swimable? Are the waters calm or it's rocky beach and rough water. We're planning for mid-January. Is it going deep very fast or you could just walk for a while in the water as in Waikiki? Thanks.

TravelCrazy- Polo beach fronts the Kea Lani, and though totally swimmable -- south beaches are great in wintertime -- it get's a bit more break action than Wailea beach, which is connected to Polo by a nicely done 750 yard beachwalk. Polo beach is a great place for beginning boogie boarders.

Polo Beach also has a nasty current, so make sure you are good swimmers as there are no lifeguards.
