Restaurants close to the Fairmont

I think we have narrowed our resort choice to the fairmont. We will rent a car. This is our first time to Maui. Are there any cheap places for breakfast/lunch that are close to the fairmont? We are not big breakfast/lunch eaters.

Any suggestions for dinners - places with great views?

Thanks!

Shops At Wailea has several restaurants and a 'convenience store' with a small deli (Whalers Village). Kihei (immediately north) has take-out places and two 24-hour groceries: Foodland and Safeway.

Gannon's is above Wailea on the Gold/Emerald golf courses -- B., L., D. with panoramic views. All the Wailea hotels have restaurants. Capisch? is one of Maui's best -- in the Hotel Wailea. Five Palms and Sarento's are two oceanfront places just north of the Wailea/Kihei border. Google Wailea Menus -- same for Lahaina and Kapalua. There's Mama's Fish House is in Paia, too.

Cafe on the Green at the Makena golf course is fantastic. The most reasonably priced food we had on our recent trip. The happy hour menu is awesome. The best sliders I have had. Views to die for. Last call is 6:30 pm. I highly recommend.

In South Maui for less inexpensive places to eat breakfast and lunch, look at Peggy Sue’s (Kihei), Stella Blues, Da Kitchen, Cheeseburgers in Paradise, Mulligan's on the Blue, Lulu's, South Shore Tiki Lounge, Joy's Place, Moose McGillycuddy's and Fred’s Mexican Cafe.

Moderate price places to look at, consider Tommy Bahama's, Monkeypod Kitchen, Coconuts Fish Cafe, Cafe O'Lei, Eskimo Candy, Cuatro and the 808 Bistro.

For high end dinner with a great view look at DUO, Spago and Nick's Fishmarket, for just good high end places look at Hali'imaile General Store, Joe's Bar & Grill, Gannon's and maybe Capishe.

Fred's was awful Mexican IMO. They also had loads of people sitting outside waiting for a table when the place was less than half full. They didn't have enough waiters so they just slowed down the process of getting a table. Food was bland.

Mulligan's on the Blue was OK. Nice views. We had fish and chips with Marlin. Yummy.

Monkeypod was also good although loud and crowded.

Pita in Paradise was also quite good if you want mediterranean style food.

Actually in south Kihei the Denny's is a great spot for breakfast.

Breakfast/lunch Kihei Cafe, 808 Deli, Gannon's B & L cost a little more but view is worth it.

Three's Bar & Grill for B, L or D.

If you aren't much on breakfast, stock some granola and yogurt, island fruit , muffins in the room. Have a light breakfast/lunch and enjoy the day.
