Wailea: favorite lunch and dinner restaurants

We are staying in GW for 8 nights with 2 children, including one toddler (well behaved at restaurants). Looking for advice on your favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner.

We like both fine dining and just about any good ethnic restaurants but not into pizza/burgers/sandwiches (i.e. would love a bowl of pho or curry but not a casual diner that serves fried foods).

We will have a car, but obviously want something convenient for lunch. We don't mind driving for dinner.

Live music is always a plus with the kids.

Thank you

Just to clarify- I have been to Hawaii before and know what to expect. Just want good food in Wailea/Maui area- any particular cuisine except diner/burger kind of places.

Thank you.

I love lunch in Tommy Bahama's in the Shops at Wailea. The MonkeyPod is up the hill, I've never been but have heard good things about it. Stella Blue's down in Kihei is a good place for lunch or dinner, diverse menu.

Thank you.

Could you recommend your favorite fine dining/atmosphere dinner restaurants as well? Oceanfront would be great.

Wailea and Kihei doesn't have a lot to offer for true oceanfront dining other than:

Ferraro's at the Four Seasons: fourseasons.com/maui/…

Sarento's: http://www.sarentosonthebeach.com/

and

5 Palms: http://5palmsrestaurant.com/about.html

Capische is set up the hill, but has a great sunset view from the balcony as well as a beautiful setting in their garden patio.

Gannon's has a great view from the patio as well, but is also up the hill on the golf course. http://www.gannonsrestaurant.com/

This will be our first time in Wailea/Maui, and I am still a bit unsure about the distances involved. How far would we have to drive to the most popular/favorite oceanfront restaurants? Where are they located? And what are they (we don't mind driving for dinner, but not for lunch)?

Sarento's and Five Palms would be about 5 to 10 minutes from the Grand Wailea. The Shoppes at Wailea have Tommy Bahama, Longhi's and Ruth's Chris (don't bother with Cheeseburger in Paradise or whatever it's called these days. Coconut's Fish Café (very casual) in Kihei is in a strip mall, but the food is VERY good. Figure about 15 minutes or less.

Cuatro, in the Foodland mall in Kihei, is a little more fine dining, but still fairly casual, and is a little closer. Probably 10 minutes. Cuatro is our favorite -- a combo of Latin, Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. We've tried virtually everything on the menu over several visits and I can't recall anything I wouldn't order again -- all great!. Best of all, everything on the menu is 25% off between 4 and 6 p.m.

We like Monkeypod and Pita Paradise in the Wailea Gateway Center for lunch, especially if we can sit outside. Pita Paradise has wonderful fresh fish, the freshest we've had on Maui.

Longhi's has been getting very mixed reviews since (if I recall correctly) the owner died.

Gannon's has a fabulous view of the ocean and outdoor seating, and the food seems to be more consistent there than Five Palms (which I thought was mediocre at best, although I loved the venue). Sarento's is a great oceanfront location, and the food was good the times we ate there, it was the service that was inconsistent.
