Biking in Albuquerque -- good options or elsewhere NM?

We are planning a weekend getaway for late October and enjoy biking (road or hybrid, not mountain). We saw there was a river trail for biking and would appeciate any comments on biking there and in the area....also are bike rentals easy to come by? This isn't going to be the only part of our trip and we might be heading to Taos as well, but the river trail peeked our interest.

Thank you!

Albuquerque is a bikers paradise, with relatively mild weather both in Winter and Summer. Road, and mountain riding is available literally throughout the city, and on many traills in the foothills of the neighboring Sandia Mountains.

The 16-mile long Paseo del Bosque Trail ("Ride of the Woods"...huge old Cottonwood trees in this case) is in most places adjacent to the Rio Grande River, and also passes near several of the city's favorite attractions.

These two websites should get you started for useful information:

Googling...and/or the Yellow Pages should turn up some convenient bicycle rental places. Good luck with your planning, and trip to NM.
