River of Lights @ Albuquerque's BioPark

We attended the "River of Lights," Holiday Light Show at the BioPark (Central Ave @ New York Ave.) last night, and enjoyed every minute of the approximately 1/2 mile, 40 minute stroll, and million-plus lights, in creations varying from hummingbirds, to a T-Rex. Certainly worth the $7 for adults, and $3 for children entrance fees.

Tip: Arrive early! Ticket sales open at 5:30pm, and the gate at 6:00pm. You'd be amazed how many people are arriving just 30 minutes later! Better yet, enjoy the adjacent Aquarium, and it's restaurant /gift shop before the River of Lights. The River of Lights continues nightly through Dec. 30th, but is closed on the 24th & 25th.

Dress warmly! It is cold alongside the Rio Grande!

I gotta follow up, as I was there Wednesday night also! Sorry I missed a chance to meet you, NMPJ. I saw several people with cameras on tripods, I'll bet one of them was you!

The lights are absolutely beautiful. We arrived at 6:30 and got lucky finding a parking space. We had a 2 year old with us, and she walked the whole way: we didn't even need a stroller, though it did take us more like 90 minutes to get through it at her pace. The choo choo trains were definitely her favorite thing. This is a wonderful event for a family, and I highly recommend it. If you've been in the past it will look mostly the same, but it's exciting to go with first-timers. Splurge for the cocoa, it is hot and delicious.
