Dinner Recommendations in Estes Park?

Hi,

For our family vacation in Estes park at the end of July, we are responsible for planning two dinners out. Any recommendations for restaurants that would accommodate six adults and four children - ranging from infant to 5 years old? The kids will eat most anything, I'm just looking for good food and comfortable environment for larger parties.

Thank you!

In no particular order:

(downtown restaurants)

Ed's Cantina

Poppy's Pizza

Mama Rose's

Wapiti

Casa Grande

(outside downtown)

Twin Owls Steakhouse

Mary's Lake Lodge

Smokin' Dave's BBQ

Dunraven (the one on Hwy 66. Not the Dunraven Downtown.)

Rock Inn

View Restaurant

Those are just a few that would be worth consideration. In case you have not seen the advice from others in this forum regarding Estes Park restaurants, let me be the first to pass along this info: there are some good restaurants but very few 'really good' ones.

Twin Owls and the Dunraven are both really good and have great settings! They're my 2 favorite places in Estes to eat! Definitely need reservations. =)

Mary's Lake Lodge has something for everyone. Dunraven is my fave but it can be a bit stuffy and pricey for a big party. The Rock Inn is also very good for a bigger party with some kids. Very reasonable and kind of casual where kids can be kids and adults still have a great time.

Mary's Lake Lodge. Though if you don't care so much about a view and a historic place, then Smokin Dave's BBQ and Sweet Basilco.

We live here so where do we go. Smoking Daves for casual. If you want the special place that is expensive but wondefully special and private: The Inn in Glenn Haven.

Smokin Daves is great, but you'll have a hard time getting a table that large for your group. Mary's Lake has a good menu for all. Wapiti is a good pub, and never had a problem getting seated. Thai Garden is good, and often empty - easy to get a seat. That's the issue I see - seating a large group. Hunters Chop House has a nice big table in the back, but it gets crowded early. Maybe try Lake Shore Lodge (we just had our first meal there and enjoyed the atmosphere) or Sundown. Restaurant at Fall River Road gift shop was decent too (forgot name). Good luck!
