TripAdvisor actually already has this laid out. If you look at the left of this page, there is a "Things to Do" link as well as a "Tucson Hotels" link that will give you more information.

Essentially, you should look at visiting the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum certainly. What else you do somewhat depends on what time of year you visit, as outdoor activities are not really feasible during the summer. Accommodations is also dependent on season, as Tucson has a "high" season going on right now, and a "low" season coming in the summer. You can stay at a resort like Miraval or the Ritz Carlton for around $350 per night, or you can find 2-star hotels in the city suburbs for under $100 per night. It depends on your budget and what you expect from your accommodations.

Hope that helps.

Yes, if you can give some more specific information - when you're coming, budget, what kind of things you like to do, etc. - we can give you some more specific advice. The "top questions" at the top right of this page is a good place to start.

On the top right side of the page is a Top Question about what to do in Tucson. It includes a link to a blog by MikeP with more choices.

I suggest one avoid the row of, usually reliable, chain lodgings just West of the I-10 near down town...Nocturnal theft in exposed parking lots is a continuing problem... carracar

You'll probably want to stay in the Foothills...Off Sunrise there are some very fine hotels/resorts...Check out Embassy Suites in La Paloma area...a resort-like experience for relatively modest prices.

We've been visiting Tucson every year for the past 15 years...When friends visit us usually for two or three days, we make sure to do: walk in Sabino Canyon, visit to Sonoran Desert Museum, visit to some of the luxury resorts--Lowe's Ventana Canyon, La Paloma--and maybe visit to Pima Air and Space Museum or Tucson Zoo. Must-go restaurants include Vivace (for dinner) and Vivace Pizzeria (for lunch). Hacienda Grill is a classic Arizona restaurant, set in a desert surrounding, right off Sunrise.
