We booked 5 nights Feb 8th through Feb 15th

Now that we have decided on Tucson, we need help on an itinerary. We have never been to this area. What should we definitely NOT miss? We don't want to run around like crazy trying to see it all. My husband and I would rather take our time and maybe spend a whole morning or afternoon exploring one or two attractions. We enjoy museums, aircraft, national parks and the like. We are not so crazy about casinos or night life but do enjoy live theatre. Can you give us an idea of what can reasonably be seen and enjoyed in 5 days or so? Thank you in advance.

Mike's given you some ideas that may pique your interest, but I would also add the Titan Missile Museum, the Arizona History Museum, the Arizona State Museum, DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun and the Center for Creative Photography. That last one is small (but also free), so check out the web site for the current exhibit before you go to see if it interests you: http://www.creativephotography.org/

The "musts" are the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park, the Pima Air & Space Museum (per your interests, book a "boneyard" tour) and Mission San Xavier. Those are unique to Tucson.

There are several live local theaters in the city: the Beowulf, the Gaslight and Live Theatre Workshop. You may also want to see what is at the Fox Theatre when you come, as well as check out Arizona Theatre Company and Broadway in Tucson to see which national shows may be playing when you come.

For 5 days, you should be kept busy, but you should not be "running around" too much. Where are you planning on staying?

You're coming at a time that will be perfect for hiking. Is that of any interest?

We love going to the melodramas at the Gaslight Theatre. So much fun, cheering the hero and booing the villain.

We also love the Gaslight Theater. there is also a new theater in Oro Valley that is supposed to be very similar. Haven't been there yet, but we are going to check it out soon:

Agree with colin regarding the "must-sees", especially the Desert Museum.

Just as an FYI: you can easily spend a full day at the Pima Air & Space Museum so don't plan for anything after that.

Groups things together, for example, you can do Desert Museum while on the west side, Saguaro West, and sunset at Gates Pass. All the other things mentioned here are great choices. 5 days is a good amount of time. We've been vacationing in Tucson during the early spring for quite a few years now and love it. We spend 10 days or so and never run out of things to do. It's really a lovely place.
