Salem on Halloween?

Hi all,

My mom and I are debating traveling to Salem on Halloween. We will be staying in Providence, RI the night of the 30th. We are trying to decide whether to try to book a hotel in or around Salem for the night of the 31st, or whether we should merely travel to Salem for the day.

Any advice? How much time would we need in Salem on Halloween? Is it possible to get in and out of the city, or would we need to book a place to stay inside the town? Tips on what to do/see?

Thank you!

This is the busiest day of the year for Salem. You may already be too late for reservations. Getting in and out is possible, of course, but not easy at all. If you haven't already thought all this through, maybe you should try going at a different time.

Most likely it is already too late to find a room in Salem. Will you have a car? If so, you might be able to stay in a nearby town; try Peabody or Danvers.

BooKat is correct. Salem hotels have been booked for Halloween for months. I doubt you will find a vacancy in nearby Peabody, Danvers, or Beverly, but it's worth a try. Also, we strongly advice against driving to Salem on Halloween (or October weekends). The roads are congested and parking is scarce. Please see the Top Questions in the column to the right for information on taking public transit. Here's a link to the Haunted Happenings website:
