San Antonio in October

never been before, looking to travel there over Columbus day weekend (October)

Do we need to rent a car?

Is it worth it to stay downtown by the riverwalk?

Any other tips or suggestions would be awesome, Thanks!

If you stay in the downtown area & only want to do the downtown things than you don't need to rent a car but if you stay at another area than yes it would be better to rent a car to get around & it would be cheaper than a taxi.

Is it worth to stay downtown??? only you can answer that. The Riverwalk area is very beautiful & lots to do in the downtown area. It all depends on what you are planning to do is SA & what are your interest????

Here is a website that may be of some help.

www.visitSanAntonio.com

after looking it over & have any questions on anything just ask????

goog place for events is

www.texashighways.com

ex. San Antonio

International Accordion Festival

Oct 9 - 11

downtown SA is very walkable IMO...Riverwalk, Susnet Station, Markete Square..

There is also the downtown trolley system

highly reccommend King William area/ Southtown.

www.guentherhouse.com for breakfast...take the longer way along the natural part of the river to the south.

I secured a car on Hotwire for about $22 per day, including all taxes, over the Columbus Day weekend. That coupled with a package including free parking at my hotel made me decide to go ahead and rent - it would be cheaper than a shuttle or a tax to and from the airport for a family of 3.
