We're coming in early April and splitting the time between town and (hill) country.
SAT - Fly in late, check into hotel on the Riverwalk and go out for a walk and some margaritas.
SUN - See the IMAX film about the Alamo. Tour the Alamo, Return to the Riverwalk and take the boat tour. Walk through LaVillita. See the San Fernando Cathedral, the Spanish Governor's Palace and Market Square. Have dinner at La Margarita/Mi Tierra at 6 when the shops close in Market Square. Return to the Alamo and take a 1 hour carriage ride through the King William historic district (Yellow Rose Carriages). Nightcap on the Riverwalk.
MON - Tour the Missions using B-Cycle and the bike trail. Eat at Rosario's, El Mirador or the Liberty Bar on the way back. Take the Sisters Grimm Candlelight Ghost Tour if we get back by 8:30.
TUES - Take a cab to the Botanical Gardens. Afterwards walk (16 minutes according to mapquest) to the B-Cycle station in front of the Witte Museum to pick up bikes. Ride around Brakenridge Park for a bit and then ride down to the Pearl Brewery. Eat at La Gloria and continue by bike to the San Antonio Museum of Art. Ride up and down the Museum Reach stretch of the Riverwalk, stopping for a drink at Hotel Havana. Return the bikes (there's a stand in front of the art museum) and spend some time in the museum (it's open until 9 on Tuesdays). Take a river taxi back down to our hotel. Boudro's for guacamole and prickly pear margaritas.
WED - Check out of hotel. Walk or cab to Avis and pick up rental car. Head to Gruene (in the Hill Country) stopping to see Natural Bridge Caverns on the way. Have lunch at the Gristmill (or Rudy's Barbecue) do some antique shopping and check into the Gruene Mansion Inn for one night. Spend the evening at Gruene Hall (oldest dance hall in TX).
THURS - Drive towards Fredericksberg taking scenic route(s) to see the wildflowers. Stop at Garrison Bros. Distillery for the tour, Wildseed Farms and maybe a winery. (No interest in LBJ) Check into our very cool little "Sunday haus" and spend some time in the shops along Main Street. Have dinner at one of several places along Main. Maybe see the "bat tunnel" thing at sunset.
FRI - Spend a couple of hours (maybe) at the Museum of the Pacific War. Have an early lunch in F'berg and go for a hike at Enchanted Rock. Have dinner along Main Street again and (maybe) see the 8 PM show at the Rockbox Theatre.
SAT - SeaWorld for the day (open until 10 PM today so no hurry getting down there. Last night at an airport hotel, early flight home tomorrow.
Advice and comments welcome. I heard mention of something called the Willow City Loop in an old guidebook for wildflower viewing but can't find any current information on it. I know it passed through private ranch lands so maybe it's not done anymore?
