Antique Destination Update

Dear Octoboy and other San Antonians,

Your post from March 2012 on Antiquing options in and around San Antonio was very helpful. I will be visiting San Antonio in June 2013 for a conference and will have a few hours on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to squeeze in some antiquing. Do you have any additional suggestions to add to your list that might be worth a visit? I will be renting a car and am willing to travel a couple of hours away from San Antonio for a great antiquing destination--I'd love any information you (or anyone else) might be able to share.

Thanks, in advance!

Updates - Pearl Antiques is closing/moving I'm not sure and The Antique Mall of San Antonio on Nacogdoches is gone.

I would recommend a trip to New Braunfels/Gruene.

When my Aunt lived in SA, she enjoyed the shops in Boenre (pronounced Bernie) - NW of SA off I-10.

Take a look at this long list for San Antonio and surrounding towns:

texashillcountry.com/Texas-Hill-Country-Anti…

If you head out IH10 North you would be able to hit Comfort, Boerne & Kerrville and have the benefit of hitting these shops one right after the other because they are in small towns and usually on town square in a cluster. This, in my opinion, would be better than driving here, there and yon in SA traffic. I know you are limited on time, but it's a suggestion.

Late tonight or tmw I have some more suggestions to give you.

Okay, here is what else I wanted to say. A lot of folks, me included, who like to antique also enjoy flea markets. San Antonio just acquired a large one that is a chain in Houston and Arlington. I have been to those two and the SA one is on my list to visit. They are called Traders Village. Yes, there will be a lot of "garage sale" stuff at Tr. V. and the other one I'm mentioning, but I don't know your desires, so I'm adding these to the mix. Have fun.

The other one is out IH35 towards Austin, but it is very close to the SA city limits:
