This fast food chain started in San Antonio and can be found all over the city...if you are not looking for table service.

If you want to be a little adventurous, head over to Mr and Mrs G's Home Cookin on WW White. Meat and 3 sides kinda place. Great fried chicken.

I liked the fried chicken I got at The Pig Stand. I know you're "supposed" to get the pig sandwich when you're there, but I wanted chicken and it was good.

Earl Ables is one of my favorite fried chicken spots.

+1 for Mr. and Mrs. G's (although I usually go on Wednesdays for turkey and dressing.)

+1 for Radicke's Bluebonnet Grill (they also make their own, huge, yeast rolls and buns.)

As a native, my vote is Earl Abels on Austin Highway or De Wese's Tip Top Café on Fredericksburg Road. Tip Top does not take credit cards. They are best for lunch as they do not stay open late, 7 pm or so. They also have great chicken fried steaks and onion rings.

In the end I ran out of time and settled for a quick visit to Bush's Fried Chicken which was OK for fast food. Will make sure I visit one of the recommendations next visit
