Tea Shops

My son will be graduating from BMT on Feb 28. One of his loves in life is good teas. During one of his town liberties I want to take him to a tea shop so he can get his first cup of hot tea in 8 1/2 weeks. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites near Sea World. Are there any cool tea shops around Lackland AFB or our hotel?

Madhatters is one of my favorite spots.

There's also a tea shop in North Star Mall (No personal experience) http://www.teavana.com/retail/united-states/texas/san-antonio/north-star-mall(94)

Thank you for your responses. Before leaving for BMT he told me that he is going to want tea and BBQ during the time that he gets to leave the base. What BBQ place near Lackland or Sea World would be the best to take him to for true Texas BBQ ?

On Hwy 90 back toward downtown from Lackland AFB is a great BBQ joint. You will find no tourists, only locals and they only serve until its gone so no dinner just lunch.

You will not find any tea shops around Lackland , its a rough area. I can recommend three places I have personally been to. Madhatters in the Kind William area is ok . Happy Hatter in Helotes , TX is cozy and in the middle of a cute little hillcountry town not far from 1604 & Bandera rd. It is surrounded by botiques and antique shops http://www.cnjhappyhattertearoom.com/ My personal favorite is Craftiques Tea lounge on NWMilitary drive. http://craftiquesmall.com/garden-tea-lounge/
