The Drury Inn & Suites has evening happy hours and free breakfast - https:/… . It seems to check all of your boxes, but I'm not sure what you would consider "average price".

I don't think any of us here would ever recommend a hotel that wasn't clean, but yes, I can tell you from personal experience just a few months ago that it is clean. You may want to read some of the reviews just to get a full picture of what to expect.

Embassy Suites on Riverwalk. I have stayed twice and it's wonderful. Free Manager cocktail party in the lobby and the free hot/cold/omlette breakfast is in a full scale real dining room and more tables out on a terrace. It's a very new hotel in the heart of all the action. Breakfast was awesome.

No matter where I stay, I book directly throught the hotel's website. There's also a toll free number to call. Just click on the link in my earlier response.

Drury Plaza has good breakfast and food in the evening such as hot dogs, baked potatoes, pasta, and 3 free coctails as well as popcorn and soda all day all part of the room cost.

MrTed, side note that your choice to book directly through the hotel is one I know hotels highly appreciate. Booking through third parties costs the hotel significant $$ (as in around 18-25% commissions). It is a contributing factor to why hotels become expensive as they still have to cover all the costs of that commission, pay a housekeeper to clean your room, pay the electric bill, etc - plus do something crazy like try to make a profit.

By helping the hotel keep costs down, it helps you keep costs down. Also, if you are a loyalty club point junkie, keep in mind some chains will not pay points if the reservation was booked through a online third party, so another reason to book through the hotel directly.
