Hello Santa Fe people!!!

Does anyone know what is going to be open for Thanksgiving Day for a meal, that isn't so expensive?

Thanks,

Look up on Open Table

As of today 20 are open around mid-afternoon.

Do you need tips on specific places? What's your price range?

Hello,

Thanks!!

Yes, I looked at opentable., but all of the places seem to be way too expensive. Looking for something maybe in the $15-20 range.

I know Furr's cafeteria is open, but we are not fond of cafeteria food!!!

Thanks again,

Carla

I think that the Plaza Cafe and Zia Diner may be open on Thanksgiving (they have been in the past) and should have more inexpensive offerings. Last I checked, their websites don't say. I contacted Zia Diner and there has been no reply.

Zia Diner is very good, and Plaza Cafe would have interesting, tho quiet, views from windows, right on SF Plaza. If you like Hispanic food, try Castro's, Blue Corn, Tomasitas or La Choza - all nice family-type places that may be open.

Ristra and Pranzo are a bit higher, very good while not at "top" end.

Carla,

This may come off as incredibly insensitive and mean-spirited, but it is intended as some real food for thought, no pun intended.

I'm sorry but I cannot recommend anything in the low price range you've requested except one of the low budget casino buffet options.

It is Thanksgiving Day and a major endeavor to staff and THE most important holiday of the year in America in terms of people's desire to be with family and/or friends.

At $2.18 pay per hour plus tips, your stated budget does not sound enticing enough for any restaurant worker to even consider being separated from their loved ones to make the effort to fully serve unless really desperate for the work.

There may be some low priced options out there, but I think you will get what you pay in terms of quality and lack of service.

Good luck finding something that suits your needs and I hope you take into consideration the huge sacrifice any hospitality provider makes to work on a major holiday.

We ate at Zia Diner last night and there was a slip with the bill that said they're open for Thanksgiving. I didn't check the price.

That said, we were disappointed that they've updated their menu (and prices) yet again. Most regular entrees in the $12-15 range. Food was fine, but not extraordinary. I'd expect for T-day that you would pay more.

Just checked the Zia Diner website and they now have Thanksgiving info. They'll be open from noon to 7pm on Thanksgiving. The menu indicates choice of soup or salad, choice of 3 entrees with sides and choice of 5 desserts for $29.95. Reservations advised (maybe even required).

For what it's worth, I've sent an email to the Plaza Cafe asking whether they will be open or not. (Internet searches have shown that they were in 2009...yup...that's all I could turn up.)

For my Thanksgiving lunch and after searching Open Table options, I decided on Inn of the Anasazi. At lunch time it's $45 for a set menu (as opposed to $85 later in the day). Would have liked to repeat at Dinner for Two, but they're not offering Thanksgiving this year.

What do you call "not so expensive"? Sadly, most of the places that do open are on the pricey side.

Just saw that Buffalo Thunder Casino has a Thanksgiving buffet for $29.99 per person. Looks like they will have all the favorites, etc. May need reservations.
