Intineray help needed - Mid-Nov

Hi All,

My sister and I (both mid-20s) will be visiting Santa Fe for a long weekend in Nov with our Mom. Would to suggestions for a few must-see or must-dos. We have three full days. Would love to hike, but will it be too cold? Is going to Taos worth it with so little time? Also, any good yoga/gyms for a workout or two while we're there?

Thanks in advance for suggestions and help!

I wouldn't go to Taos with with few days only in Santa Fe. Santa Fe is so charming, I expect you will want to stroll around. The plaza can easily take more than one day. And Canyon Road is a day unto itself. If you want to fit a hike in, there's another whole day. Save Taos for when you have more time. It's worth exploring on its own.

Hiking in the high country may be difficult if we get lots of early snow, but there are plenty of trails lower that are open all year. Dale Ball Trails, Tent Rocks Nat Mon, Cerrillos Hills State Park, Check through posts here on TA for tons of restaurants recommendations and places to see. Also www.santafe.org

Must do - visit the Plaza, shop at the portal at Palace of the Governors, visit historic buildings, eat a green chile cheeseburger at the Santa Fe Bite, try both red and green chile on enchiladas (called Christmas), walk Canyon Road!!

Lots of drop-in yoga places in Santa Fe to research:

There are two great Yoga places you can drop in:

Yoga Source- 2 locations- http://www.yogasource-santafe.com/

Body- http://www.bodyofsantafe.com/ Body also offers a spa/store/restaurant.

If we don't have snow- you will be able to hike the Dale Ball Trails easily...http://www.santafenm.gov/index.aspx?NID=2281

Oh, go to the 10,000 Waves spa! They have delightful plunge pools (either hot or cold) that are right out in nature. I saw a deer once. The whole place is so peaceful and special.

I think you should rule out hiking due to the altitude change you will experience. I live at sea level and have felt very poorly many a time I've visited Santa Fe. But I still go back because it is such a gorgeous, wonderful, magical place.

3 days will do fine. You'll feel like a local by the time you fly home.

For an amazing hike,I would suggest going to Tent Rocks. If your mom isn't able to do strenuous hikes, there is a loop trail that is not too demanding; otherwise do the slot trail. The scenery and the views are jaw dropping and nothing like you have ever seen in Jersey City!

I am so grateful for everyone's help! Looks like we'll stay locals and now we have great options to choose from. I came across a the Sample Santa Fe walking food tour this weekend. Any votes for or against it?

The last time we visited Santa Fe 2010 - The galleries were filled with high end art (several thousands of dollars.) After a while it was just boring to go into a place and not find something in the thousand dollar price range. I prefer to find galleries with more down-to-earth art. If you are there the weekend of the 16th be sure to check out the Santa Fe Recycle Art Fair https://www.facebook.com/Recyclesantafe.

Tent Rocks is indeed a great place to hike but it will be closed for most of November.

The Bureau of Land Management plans to close the Monument for road repairs beginning November 4, 2013, for approximately three weeks. Please plan ahead.
