Nice bar on Cerrillos Rd

I am wondering if there a nice bar/night spot on Cerrillos Rd headed away from the Plaza? My son is a student at SFUAD at Cerrillos/St Michaels and we will be at a hotel further down Cerrillos Rd like the Hyatt Place. Thank you.

Hyatt Place is about as far from his school as you can get and overlooks both a gas station, furniture store under construction and one of the best hot green chile restaurants Horseman's Haven. Nearby restaurant/bars are The Ranch House, Blue Corn Café, Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings but not a lot of nightlife as in music/dancing. Other hotels/motels I would look at are Doubletree, BW Plus, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express close to the same restaurants/bars.

There are really not many nice bar/night spots in that direction. As Casa mentioned, some of the restaurants have bars; I would recommend Blue Corn Cafe, but it is down on Rodeo Road. Its also a brew pup.

Los Potrillos restaurant is nearby SFUAD, but I have never tried their bar. In the area is also Back Road pizza, which does serve drinks, a sort of college hangout, take-out pizza, very informal, and also Second Street Brewery, which you might like (brew pup, sometimes entertainment)

There is a new BrewPub just off Cerrillos. Dual Brewing

Dr. Field Goods- more of a bar/Restaurant than "nightspot"
