Santa Fe in late June

Hi,

I will be staying in central Santa Fe for three days in late June this year, and we're looking for some good tips.

First of all, what do you consider must dos? Are there any hidden gems we should check out?

Secondly, what area has the best nightlife? We're interested in cool bars, good restaurants - general evening stuff. Is there a typical bar-to-bar walk we could do?

Thirdly, getting around - while we do have a car, we'd like to spend some time walking (and, if need be, using taxis). We're thinking about doing stuff that requires a car on the first day, and then try to get around without it on the following days. That way, we can enjoy a beer or two without any problems. Is this possible in Santa Fe, or should we stick with the car?

Thanks! :-)

Plenty of places that are must see's. Visit www.santafe.org for plenty of ideas. The Plaza, Palace of the Governors, Cathedral, Canyon Road, Loretto Chapel, hiking in the mountains.

Best to stay near or on the Plaza which is downtown. Most of the bars, restaurants, shops and nicer hotels are located there. Also plenty of B&B's and casita rentals. Bars to check out include La Fonda Hotel Bell Tower Bar, Del Charro Saloon, Coyote Cantina, new brewpub overlooking the Plaza (used to be Marble Brewing), El Paseo, Cowgirls, Check for more ideas on above website

It is easy to walk around the Plaza area, Canyon Road and the Railyard District. You won't really need a car to see most of the main sights. If you want to hike in the mountains, visit Bandelier Nat Mon or drive the High Road to Taos, then you will need your car.

Santa Fe Rodeo is June 18-21. How you can make it.

Much fun! Very American!

Parade is June 14.

If you miss that and are still there early July, the "Pancakes on the Plaza" (july 4) also great local event + July 4 American event. Also evening fireworks!

The Santa Fe Bandstand Concerts, at the Plaza, free entertainment every evening, starts June 22. Popular local event. Sometimes audience dancing, too.

"Hope you can make it" rather than "how you can make it..."
