Coming in July

We will be renting a fantastic location in Luray which will be a cabin with a pool. We have never been to Luray before and other then going to the caves and the zoo what are other things we should consider? Not really interested in horseback riding or Atv's. Thanks!!

Luray is right on the doorstep of Shenandoah National Park, so I'd head over there for some great hikes. If you aren't into hiking, at least stop by the Byrd Visitor Center to see the exhibits, There might even be some ranger programs going on that you would enjoy.

The Big Meadow Lodge is a good place for lunch and/or sitting in the Great Room admiring the view.

Do get out and enjoy the Shenandoah River--by canoe, kayak, tube, raft or just fishing. A beautiful river!

There are Civil War museums in the area. A zip line and also a rope course. Good local music in the evenings at some of the restaurants, etc Check the local visitors center for events. http://www.luraypage.com

A big focus in our area is outdoor activities, You can hike in the park, or just drive through and stop at the overlooks. Of course Luray Caverns and there are several others nearby. There are several museums associated with the caverns as well. If you like wine, the Blue Ridge Whiskey Wine loop is wonderful. Visit DiscoverShenandoah.com to find out all about it. You will also see lots of information about other things to see and do along the trail. Luray has some very nice galleries and shops. We are also only about 90 min. from Monticello in Charlottesville. or a bit closer is Montpelier.

So although we are small town, there is lots to do. Oh yeah, the Luray Zoo is also interesting rescue zoo. Enjoy your stay in the Cabin Capital of VA.
