There are a few options available to you:

Drury Inn & Suites is the newest Flagstaff Hotel and within walking distance of the Amtrak Station. It's also the #2 rated hotel in Flagstaff on TA reviews.

Highland Country Inn is an older property, motel style, less expensive and gets pretty decent reviews for what it is.

The Monte Vista is an old funky property that some say is haunted. It has it's fans, but I doubt any of them go there for the comfort and modernity of the rooms.

Another historical option downtown is the Weatherford. It gets slightly better reviews than the Monte V. but still has its detractors.

Your best bet is to check reviews and see which reflect the style you are most looking for:

You could also just call a taxi and have them take you to any hotel along Route 66--that'll give you more options. Most car rental companies in Flagstaff have pick-up service and will come get you the next day.

A to agree if available The Monte V is the place to stay to be withing walking distance to everything in downtown Flag. Plus it has history and charm and is known to be haunted. If you stay here....you can request to see a few rooms before deciding which one suits you as they are all decorated differently.

Don't plan on getting a taxi at the station. We arrived on the SW Chief last Saturday night at about 9 PM and there was only 1 cab there. Several people were looking for a cab but were unable to find one to come to the station. We finally walked to our motel(The Highland Country Inn) after waiting about 20 minutes. It is located about 1/2 mile away and turned out to be an easy walk with roller bags. The motel was fine for one night. Beds were good.

I've stayed at the Highland and was pleasantly surprised, clean, safe and comfortable and a great price. No breakfast, but they did have coffee in the office and refrigerators and microwaves in the room. A pretty basic place to stay, but we also needed just one night to attend a wedding and would stay again.

You can easily call a taxi from the Amtrak station, and one will be by within minutes to pick you up. That's what I did.

Cabs don't wait around because the train tends to be late and it's hard to anticipate when it's going to arrive...
