Buffalo/Niagara Fall "must eat" spots (breakfast/lunch)?

I will visit Niagara Falls wih my family tomorrow for only a day and half. But, we still want to eat "good meals" (not caught at some tourist traps). I want to get any recommendations for "good meal."

First, I need to find a good breakfast spot. All I found is Amy's place in buffalo. Any other (better/closer to nigara falls) spots?

Second, is there any other "must eat" spots good for lunch?

Btw, I plan to visit Anchor Bar for original Bufflao Wing on the way to falls tomorrow.

Thank you for your advice in advance.

The Greek diners in Buffalo have a monopoly on breakfast in Buffalo. They serve omelettes, eggs and the usual breakfast food as well as some Greek dishes like souvlaki breakfast. You can subsitute Greek potatoes for home fries - tastier and better for you! (btw, Amy's Place is sort of a greasy spoon college hangout - good if you're looking for that sort of atmosphere.)

There are three I can recommend in different places in Buffalo. Going from south to North Buffalo:

1) Towne Restaurent at 186 Allen St. (closest to Anchor Bar)

2) Ambrosia at 467 Elmwood Ave.

3) Kostas at 1561 Hertel Ave.

All 3 places are located in the City of Buffalo. There is not too much commercial development between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Especially if you drive on the I-190 thruway, there's no place to stop. So it sounds as if you'll be hanging out in Buffalo before heading up to the Falls.

For lunch:

I can recommend the above restaurants as well as the Globe Market at 762 Elmwood Ave, or in downtown Buffalo at 298 Main St. There's another place next to the Globe called Chop-Chop at 300 Main St. Both lunch places serve fresh salads and sandwiches. The Globe has home made soup. If you have time and the inclination, you can hang out in downtown Bflo and look at the architecture, etc. Fridays from 12:30-1:00 there is usually a free music recital in St. Paul's Cathedral, next door to Globe Market. Also, from 12:00-1:00ish, there are free tours of Buffalo City Hall. I noticed you're from Chicago. Buffalo has two landmark buildings by Chicago architects: the Guaranty Bldg, Louis Sullivan's masterpiece, and the Ellicott Square Bldg, by Daniel Burnham. Here's TA links if you're interested -

All these places are next to, across the street from, or within walking distance of the Globe Market.

Also, the Anchor Bar is adjacent to downtown Bflo at 1087 Main St. ( http://www.anchorbar.com/directions.php )

The ultimate breakfast spot and most unique Buffalo breakfast place is the Oringinal Pancake House on Main Street in Williamsville.

And there's another Original Pancake House on Niagara Falls Boulevard, north of the Boulevard Mall...
