Decent Hotel Close to HSBC?

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel that is close to the HSBC?

Attending a Sabres game, and may wish to stay the night vs cross the border back to Cda.

Thanks!

Hi-

HSBC is near all the hotels in downtown Buffalo. No hotels are really walking distance but it is a very short drive. These are some suggestions-

The Embassy Suites is brand new …hilton.com/en_US/…index.do

There is also a Hampton Inn that is unusually nice - it is in a former office building so the room sizes are large and it is not they typical new build -

The Hyatt was just renovated -

I don't know if you are interested in the night life after the game but there are many bars, etc. on Chippewa Street and all of these hotels are walking distance to Chippewa. There is also a Starbucks and Spot Coffee for the morning. Enjoy the game!

There is also the Adams Mark which is on the waterfront and within walking distance.

To get to the HSBC Arena from any of the other hotels you can catch the above ground train on Main Street. The train is free while it is above ground. You can leave your car and not have to pay to park.

There are some great bars & restaurants near the HSBC arena in the Cobblestone area,

Update:

Our stay at the Hyatt was great.

Room was in excellent condition, (516), with King and no smoking.

Flat screen, nice cleam bath.

Parked in the adjacent Ausperger lot.

Vehicle was safe and sound.

Front desk was fantastic, from check in to check out with helpful advice and a map to find the Walden Galleria.

Took the Metro to the game, a rail system that will pick you up nearby, "Fountain" stop, and drop you right at HSBC.

For free!

Grabbed a bit at TGIF afterwards, which was ok.

Drinks were 2 for one, and we had wings, yes.

We'll go back for another hockey game, and will stay there again.

Sorry, but our Habs beat the Sabres...

;)

Thanks for the update - next time try the Pearl Street Brewery for wings - close to HSBC and you can still catch the train.

The Anchor Bar (home of the chicken wing) is also downtown but not within walking distance of the Hyatt but a short cab ride if you dont want to drive.

FYI, HSBC is located at the end of the Metro Rail's FREE FARE ZONE (Event Station). Any hotel on Main Street or near downtown is worth it!. Recently renovated and right along the rail are the Comfort Suites @ Main & Chippewa (716-854-5500) Hyatt Regency @ Main @ Huron (716-856-1234) or the Embassy Suites @ Delaware & Huron (716-842-1000) and Hampton Inn & Suites @ Delaware & Chippewa (716-855-2223) all are withen walking distance to the Rail (FREE ZONE), Restaurants, Theater District and the Chippewa Entertainment District which has last call at 4am. Daytime shopping just a 5 minute walk north in Buffalo's Allentown/Elmwood Village Districts

Thanks to everyone....we plan to go back and catch another Sabres game next year....maybe against Pitts or Washington....

We wanted to hit Pearl Street, but ran out of time.

Customs and Immigration held us up, and we lost some valuable nosh time.

Can't complain; they are only doing their job!
