Advice needed - How much time?

Hi,

We will be visiting Buffalo to see the Falls on a Saturday in August. Our flight will land at 3 p.m. It is a part of our 17-day trip to USA. We will be coming from Vegas and leaving for New York city the next day (Sunday)

My question is - if we want a relaxed day at the falls, Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds, what time should we take the flight to New York? United Airline's timings look the best at the present rates. Should we take the 4 p.m flight or the one that leaves at 7 pm?

We don't want the visit to be a rushed one. At the same time, if it's ok we would like to reach New York city early in the evening. Please advice!!

TIA

I have posted the same question on the Niagara Falls forum. I guess that would be better.

Sorry!

If you land at 4 the earliest you can get to the Falls is around 6 when everything is closed. It opens at 9 so I would take the later flight. The Canadian side is infinitely nicer and the views are much better plus Niagara Falls NY is a wasteland. The Casino plus the 2 things you want to see is all that is there. Canadian side is better but with your limited time frame it may be problematic.

I think the OP means that they will be arriving in Buffalo at 3 p.m. Saturday and want to catch either a 4 p.m. or 7 p.m. flight from Buffalo to New York City on Sunday.

Nst4, since you plan to see the Falls on a Saturday/Sunday in August (peak season & peak days of the week), you may have to wait in line quite a while for some of the attractions. I'd opt for the later flight to make sure you can see everything you want to see before you head to NYC.

You are right Pastiche.

We won't be going to the Canadian side because we dont have the visa. We will be staying near the falls so we can enjoy the area on Saturday evening.

I am still confused what to do! If we take the 4pm flight, we would probably have to leave for the airport at 1pm. Not sure if there would be enough time for everything we want to see.

I agree -- that wouldn't leave you a lot of time. If you took the 7 p.m. flight, the extra three hours would make the difference.
