Newport B&B

I've narrowed my choices down to tripadvisors' top B&B's for a long weekend visit to Newport this July.

One is on the "east coast" overlooking Easton Bay.

one is downtown in the middle of the shopping, etc.

one is on the "west side" facing Newport Harbor.

any advantages to one or is everything walkable? haven't been there for years. Going with husband for a relaxing, romantic break, to see the mansions, have good meals, etc...

Do you have any names.?

The one that you say "east coast" is more removed from the downtown area and would require alot more walking. The other two are about the same area...."West Side" and Downtown sound like they are both in the harbor area.

I've never really heard anyone describe Newport locations as "East Coast, or West Side" so if you have some names it might be easier to offer more specific advice.

Cliffside Inn is located near the start of Cliff Walk, a lovely area where all the mansions are, less than a mile or so from the downtown Newport harbor area where the other two are. So you would have to walk a little bit, but it is a nice walk.

Ah, as Hillside mentions, Cliffside Inn is in a more residential area a few steps from the start of the Cliff Walk.

Hydranga House is on Bellevue Ave across from the Hotel Viking...about a 5 minute walk down into town. There is a nice wine, cheese, and chocolate shop next to it.

Franicis Malbone House is right in the downtown area and very walkable to all of the shops, restaurants, etc.

You've picked 3 of the top 4 rated B&B's on tripadvisor, so you really can't go wrong with any of them. It's really just a question of where you want to be:

Quiet, away from the action but near Cliff Walk = Cliffside Inn

Somewhat quiet but quick walk to downtown attractions = Hydranga House

Close to everything Downton = Francis Malbone
