A lot of people just do the first third or so fromemorial Blvd to Ruggles Ave. It is easy and accesible. It is also the only part that is technically open right due to damage from Sandy.

RhodyRick, that's exactly the part the Mr. & I did on our recent visit. It was a breathtakingly beautiful walk. We just loved it!

It's a little over a mile from the beginning on Memorial to Ruggles....so, if you walked back to your car it would be about 2 1/2 miles. Another option (also because parking is limited on Memorial Blvd) is to park or start at Narragansett Ave and just walk a little bit in each direction to gett a feel for the views from both angles...

thanks. that sounds like it could be her cup of tea. she walks 2 miles several times a week, so I am sure she can handle that...we are at Wyndham Inn on the Harbor. Is that close to that walk or anything else that we shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance

While Cliff Walk is very beautiful, walking around Fort Adams State Park in Newport may be even more so, especially behind the Eisenhower House, where you can park freely and walk around with stunning views of boats in the Bay and harbour, also a great spot for a picnic, lots of grass and shade. The Point neighborhood is also a lovely, very historic neighborhood to walk around and view the harbour.

That sounds great! The Point neighborhood- do you have street names, or is it just Point St? Sorry but geographically challenged...

It's Washington Street along the water, mainly residential neighborhood, lost of Colonial houses with pretty gardens, some b&b's, a pleasant area to walk, or sit in Green Park and view the sunset. Different than some of the more populated historic areas. It's adjacent to the visitor center and the Wyndam, just when you come into the harbor area.

That sounds like it may be close to where we are staying; at the Wyndham Inn on the Harbor?
