Any Help Would be Appreciated

We live in Rochester NY and trying to take a spur of the moment vacation in August. We are considering the Newport area. At this time we will consider all alternatives.

I know it is late in the season to try to find a reasonable place to stay for four. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If we stayed outside of Newport, where would you recommend.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Bear in mind that anywhere in RI you are talking about a high season of 12 weeks... and this is one of them. For a business to survive, they have to charge prime. I would say you need at LEAST $100 per night for the most basic lodging.

The very cheapest lodging would probably be in the Warwick airport area. NOT positive! But lodging there would be 45 minutes from the beaches and Newport. Newport does not actually have the best beaches... Narragansett does.

Check into Homewood Suites in Middletown...new hotel, 1 - 2 miles from downtown newport, free parking, etc.
