Resortquest Wakiki beach or Outrigger Reef?

Both oceanfront rooms, Outrigger Reef is about 1000 USD more than Resortquest. Is it worth staying at the Reef for that much more money? Traveling with husband and 20 month year old. I have to have an oceanfront room. Would pay the extra if it is truly that much better. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance!

Outrigger Reef is right on the beach. There is a lot of construction there plus the Trump Tower is going up right across the street. Not worth $1000 more than for Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel.

RQ Waikiki Beach Hotel is right across the street from the beach, but in an area where there are no hotels on the beach side of the street.

Hi Butterfly.

I just recently stayed 4 nights at the ResortQuest Beach and loved it. We had an oceanfront room which was great, the service was good, staff friendly and it was clean. If I were in your shoes I would put that extra money you were going to be paying at the Outrigger and spend it on some yummy cocktails at Dukes Bar or go shopping! The beach was right across the road from ResortQuest and within easy walking to everything you need. Whatever you decide.... enjoy!!

Wow, Dusty, what a helpful map! For the first time, I got a sense of where some of these hotels I have been reading about are located in relationship to each other and the beach. Thanks!

If you liked that map, here is a lot more info. Many of the sites have nice maps. spotlighthawaii.com (Oahu gold)has good magnification features on their maps:

What wonderful information everyone! I actually decided on the Waikiki Marriott, staying 8 days for what I would of paid for 7 days at the Reef. The Marriott seemed to be a perfect fit of what I was looking for! I had to nix Resortquest when I found out no coffee makers in rooms. Shallow I know but 8 days of running down to get coffee every morning I just couldnt do it!!
