Kualoa ranch - how from airport

Anyone please help! Planning a trip to Kauai and Oahu is really overwhelming. Will be based in Hilton Kauai but on one of the days we will make a one day round trip to Oahu. Just to see the the ranch and do something else.

Could you pleae advise how far is the ranch from airport. Planning to rent a car and drive to the pick up location. But what if the drop off location is different - that was implied in the e-mails of one of the tour operators that I booked a tour with.

The tour starts at 3 pm.

What else to do in Oahu before or after the tour?

Thanks

Andrei

Andrei .... don't quite understand your asking.

Are you implementing that you will come from Kauai on a one day visit, renting a car to go to the Kualoa Ranch and back to the Honolulu Airport for your return flight to Kauai?

First of all, depending on the time of the year, you could do one of many options.

Get first flight out of Kauai and go visit the USS Arizona and USS Missouri. Be done by noon, you can drive clock wise around the island to Dole Plantation; Hale'iwa; Chun's Reef; Waimea Bay; Shark's Cove; Banzai Pipeline; Sunset Beach (stop here to take pictures); drive past the Hawai'i Mormon Temple, BYU Hawai'i campus and PCC until you reach Kualoa Ranch. With a 3 pm tour time, you will have ample time to see the sights around the island.

Presuming that you will get done two to three hours later, you should have a late flight schedule to depart HNL to Lihue.

After finishing Kualoa Ranch, you will take a right out of the Kualoa Ranch and continue to drive east on Kamehameha Hwy #83 until you reach Likilike Hwy #63. Take Likelike until H-1 west. Immediately on H-1, you will see the highway signs on the right for H-1 West Airport. You are on your final leg to the airport. Don't know what rental you have, but, car return signs will be posted at the airport to return your rental car.

To answer your question, the drive to Kualoa Ranch by way of Likelike Hwy to Kahikeli to Kamehameha Hwy will take approximately 60 minutes for visitors to drive. Your tours if you booked with Kualoa Ranch should not take but a few hours. The tours will begin and end at the ranch.

You will need to worry about school and after work traffic that will start to go home around 2 pm, if you are only planning to come in the afternoon for your tour at the ranch. When you are done, you will be traveling against the going home traffic from downtown Honolulu so traffic back to the airport will be minimum.

Hope this helps ....

"Planning to rent a car and drive to the pick up location."

As long as you are renting a car, you can drive to Kualoa Ranch. No need for their tour operators to pick you up & drop you off. Most tour operators have pick up points in Waikiki. It isn't practical to rent a car, & drive to Waikiki to be picked up to go elsewhere.

I agree with islekane. Go to USS Arizona first & then drive around the island to Kualoa Ranch. There are many scenic points along the way.

Kualoa Ranch is just north of Kaneohe.

By the way, the tours at Kualoa Ranch are nice, but hardly worth the expense of a day trip from Kauai for. If it is a movie location tour that you are interested in, Kauai has some.
