Where to eat in Kailua/Lanikai

Have passed thru Kailua many times and last trip 02/2009 took a Kayaking tour to flat Island and loved it! Next trip 12/2009 we will be staying in a cottage in Lanikai for 5 days before heading to Waikiki for 2 weeks and since we only have 5 days we don't want to waste a minute. Looking for the best places to eat and drink. Also any do not miss ideas?

Pinky's Pupus and Buzz's Steakhouse were both really good and very friendly. Tuesday night is family night at Pinky's and they have the most amazing balloon artists that I have ever seen! The Mai Tai's at Pinky's were yummy! The food at Kalapawai Market, as mentioned above, was really excellent, much more so than I would have expected from a small place like that, and it was fun to eat out on the patio. :-)

Check out Lucy's for great fish specials and Aloha Salads for a quick lunch - they have the best salads I've ever had!

Boots & Kimos

Agnes' Bakery (best malasadas in the world, no filling or fancy stuff - just ono malasadas!)

Agree on both Kalapawai (they have a sit down restaurant on Kailua road too) and Pinkys. Our favorite ever is to eat at the Thursday night farmers market behind the Longs in Kailua (the fried green tomatoes are awesome!!!). We also eat at Maui Taco. I love the summer rolls from Ba'le by the Don Quijote.

If you like skin care stuff, stop by LaniKai bath and body for really wonderful lotions and soaps.

Have a great trip and say hi to the mokes for me!

Buzz's has really gone down hill in the last few years. Lunch us your best bet. Stay with the fish and you should be ok.

Want some tasty inexpensive Korean food? Head to Yummy's.

I really don't know why the above poster consistently dings Buzz's.

We go there frequently for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Great kiawe-grilled fish, steak, burgers. Wonderful waitstaff.

If KailuaBred is like me (born and bred in Kailua) and of a certain age (35-60), Buzzʻs has gone downhill.

"Back in the day", it was so much better than it is now. Maybe memories have something to do with it, but on my visits home, I no longer bother with Buzzʻs.

There are other places I do make a habit of going back to on every trip. Unfortunately, over the years, many of my favorite windward haunts are no longer around.

Anyone old enough to remember the Puppy Palace?

Agree with Kailua Mamma about Buzz's, it's a great spot, especially for lunch. I've never had a meal I didn't enjoy there, nice wait staff, fun atmosphere. I prefer it for lunch over dinner, when prices are higher and it's almost always crowded.

I also like Teddy's for burgers.
