What's a good hotel in July if you don't like kids?

We are several 40-year-old single women doing a "gals vacation" week to Waikiki in July. We're not looking to be on a slim budget, a nice resort is fine, but probably not the super-high-end expensive places.

We know its "kids" season b/c of school holidays, so we're not unrealistic, but I always see places advertised as being "great for kids." Well, we want one of those places that doesn't cater to families. While we know finding an officially "kid free" place on Waikiki is unrealistic, we would love a place that isn't going to be overrun with families.

Any suggestions on good hotels?

Rent a condo or apartment for the week.

I've never stayed there but I think Halekulani would not be over run with children... a bit pricey though!

New Otani down at the quiet end of Waikiki (doesn't have a pool though).

Neither Moana Surfrider or Royal Hawaiian seem to have too many kids when I've walked thru.

It all depends on what you want to spend. As long as you avoid the friendliest kids places, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Marriott, Sheraton, Princess Kaiulani, you should be ok.

The Embassy Suites could be good, not on the beach but it includes breakfast and nightly cocktails.

The Outrigger Waikiki shouldn't be overrun with kids, it is on the beach.

New Otani would be the best if you didn't need a pool.

And even though Hyatt has a kids program I don't think there are too many there.

If it is in your price range look at the Moana Surfrider.

Someone recommended the Embassy Suites in the summer. This place definately will have kids, because families like the separate bedroom! I have a little guy and it was our #2 choice! Definately family friendly in the summer.

Most definitely avoid the Embassy. It is crawling with kids. The trade off is the free booze!

Try the Hyatt Regency Twin Towers. We stay there every time and though there are some kids you don't see them running around. They have a regular swimming pool, no wate rslides, everyone goes to Kuhio Beach across the street, but there spa is my favorite. They have a package, stay 4 days get the 5th one free, and free daily breakfast.
