Singing Waiters Restaurant??

Someone mentioned that when they were in Honolulu about 10 years ago that they went to restaurant where the waiters were singing. Does anyone know of this restaurant and if so, what is its name and where is it located? Thanks

This is tough. There are SO many restaurants with live music.

Yes I knew it would be. I asked if the person had more info. All he remembers that it was south of the Holiday Inn on the beach. It may well be long gone but I thought it was worth a try. Thanks so much for responding.

Well, let's keep this thread alive for a while, and see if some of our OLD timers, like Amberloo, will recognize it. Again, you will find live music at restaurants all over the place.

Aloha,

I don't think there have been many places where the ***waitstaff sings***!!!

The only link I found off the top was "Le Bon" restaurant-here's a mention of it:

Aloha,

Here's another mention of it from 1979:

Nice catch, SW, because I was totally stumped.....

They got the belly dancer at Pyramids, the violin and accordion players at Cafe Sistina, and the harp and flute at Orchids, among others,

But I can't recall ever hearing about singing waiters.

Aloha,

Why thank you Amberloo!

I found some newer references to Don Conover--that he is perhaps still playing at Chuck's, and also that he played at the Rose and Crown 'back in the day'.

Ugh, I remember Le Bon, my grandmother loved it and no one else did.

I do miss the Yum Yum Tree, Tahitian Lanai, the Rigger, The Hau Terrace, McCully's Chinese Restaurant the old snack bar at the old Halekulani, best damn burgers and saimin ever.

Aloha,

Scott, where was Le Bon? It sounds like it was one of those dark, heavy, stuffy "Continental" places--but the name being French doesn't correspond to me with singing waiters, LOL. I think of that as being Italian, not French.
