Best sealife is off Big Island of Hawaii. Maui is quite good. Oahu not so good. Kauai least good. On Oahu, as I believe Msfuzz has already said, north is best -- but not from late autumn to spring.

Snorkeling is decent on Oahu. Doesn't compare to Maui or the island of Hawaii but you will see the same things!! The north shore is the best place on the island to snorkel but like ChiSue say's not later in the year. Surf is already up this weekend, 2-7 feet so no snorkeling north shore today!! You can snorkel in Waikiki during the winter months or Hanauma Bay.

Snorkeling on Oahu may not be as good as Maui or Big Island, but it's still a wonderful experience with more than enough sea life to hold my attention.

Hanauma Bay combines snorkeling with a visit to a stunning natural volcanic formation. You can snorkel there pretty much year-round.

Sharks Cove on the North Shore is one place considered to to offer better snorkeling than Hanauma Bay, but you can only snorkel there in summer (which is when water conditions allow).

I went to Hanauma Bay and Molokini Crater in Maui.

Molokini wins hands down.

Hanauma is nice, but nothing to write home about
