Honeymoon

Going to Honolulu for my honeymoon and thinking about staying in Waikiki. As we are only going for less then 2 weeks i was wondering should we travel around other islands or just do day trips from Waikiki. We would like to see the Volcanoes as well as anything else recommended here. Also keen on shopping. Any suggestions.

Our usual rule of thumb is one week per smaller island, more for the Big Island. That said, if what you really want to see is the volcanoes you could do an overnight to Volcano Village.

Most flights back to Australia leave early in the morning, so you'll need to be near Honolulu before your departure. If you have at least ten nights in Hawaii you *can* stay on two islands -- maybe too much dashing around for a honeymoon. I like pzp's suggestion of one (or two) nights in the town of Volcano on Big Island of Hawaii. You don't have enough time to 'do' the whole island. You'd need to reserve a rental car for pickup at ITO.

Oahu is a beautiful, typically tropical island once you drive outside of Honolulu. You'll want a rental car for at least a day to drive east and north shores. Unless you are coming in between late November and March, you might split your stay between Waikiki and Turtle Bay on Oahu (no airport hassles).

With "less than two weeks" how many nights will you actually be in Hawaii? 10 nights is good if you want to go to 2 different islands. The island of Hawaii (the big island) is huge and takes a long time to explore.
