Looking for restaurants for this weekend

Hi everyone

Will will be staying at the Marriott river center this weekend and looking for places to eat. For Friday evening I have tried searching for restaurants in Covington where the hotel is located but seem to be getting restaurants across the river. It might be fine I will not know until we get their if we are going to want to get back in the car to go for dinner. Do you have any suggestions for nice restaurants in the Covington area? We are open to most foods and cost not really an issue but good food is a must! :)

I did come across a restaurant called Prima vesta(or Vera) but it is across the river not to far from the hotel and apparently has really nice views of Cincinnati, ky and the river. I would consider this if I have to cross the river. Any other suggestions if I have to cross the river that's not more than 10 minute drive?

Saturday night we will be attending a show at the Horseshoe Casino. We would like to go Jeff Rubys steakhouse. It does get good reviews here on trip advisor. Any other recommendations for a good steak?

Ideally for Saturday night I would really just prefer to park the car at the casino and walk to the restaurant but maps can be deceiving. Could someone give me an idea how far a walk Jeff rubys is from the casino? Thanks

To get from your hotel to Cincinnati you can take a taxi or use the Southbank Shuttle operated by the Transit Authority of N. Ky. You can even walk if you wish or walk in combination with another method. There is really no need to drive especially if you are boozing. There are several restaurants in CovingtonKY that you could walk to as well. These two spots are popular

Places for steak downtown include: Jeff Ruby's, Jack Binion's (in the casino), Ruth's Chris, Jimmy G's (winemedinemecincinnati.com/2012/…) and Morton's. For most of the above and definitely for the first 3 you should reserve.

From Jeff Ruby's to the casino is 5 minutes or so on foot.

De Felice cafe on Main in Covington is a nice option for jazz and good food. Up the block is the Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar, a must if you like a classic cocktail made by professional bartenders.

Jeff Ruby's downtown is fabulous. Any of the Ruby restaurants are top notch. Baseball in town this wknd so dwntwn will be crowded. Make sure you make a stop at the banks and enjoy many various options for food and drink.

Main street in the OTR district is great for hip food, my favorite is Bakersfield.

Enjoy your stay.

Peace

Prima Vista is the name of the restaurant you were looking at. It would be quite a drive and can be a bit confusing as you have to wind your way through the Price Hill neighborhood. I would go with one of the suggestions mentioned above and would also add the Hofbrauhaus if you're a fan of German beer (it's a branch of the one in Munich), the Chart House on the KY side which has great views of the river and seafood, and a Cincinnati favorite for ribs, Montgomery Inn on the OH side. Have a great visit!

You could walk to the casino from Ruby's easily but a cab ride would be quick. Maybe contact Ruby Culinary Entertainment and see if they have an option for your transportation. Very service oriented company.

Peace

Hi everyone thank you all for your suggestions and the heads up on the baseball this weekend, really appreciate that !! :). I have already checked your suggestions and they sound fabulous! Prima Vista looked good initally but when I checked the website and saw the pic they have of the view of downtown I realized that it was alot farther then what it appeared. Looks like a great place for an evening dinner with the view and city lights!

Just to be sure but " OTR" means " on the river"?

I am so looking forward to this weekend thanks again everyone!! :)

OTR means Over-the-Rhein. This is a historic district just north of the central business district that has seen a fair amount of gentrification over the past several years and that trend has accelerated rapidly over the past 5 years or so.

I suggest Behle Street cafe for your first night dinner. Located right next to your hotel and at the corner of the embassy suites in covington. Live acoustic music some nights and should have on weekends. Great food! Great little bar with and also has outdoor seating. Primavista is worth the drive in my book but of course you cant go wrong with jeff rubys!

Do not go to the Hofbrauhaus! Sure, it's got some ambiance and the name, but the food is terrible. If you want good German food, go to the Wunderbar. It's in Covington (not within walking distance, but a short drive). It's interior is VERY humble, but the food is fantastic & homemade. You can also try the Moerlein Lagerhaus. The view is great, food good, and beer delicious! Another fun place within walking distance of the casino is Arnold's bar and grill on 8th street in Cincinnati. It's the oldest bar/tavern in the city. It has great ambiance, but the food and service won't be on the same level as a Jeff Ruby's restaurant. Jean Robert's bistro on Vine St is an impeccable dining experience as well. He's one of our well celebrated chefs & it's well deserved.

Cincinnati has a surprising number of great restaurants considering the size of the city. I think you'll find you have a lot of options. Have a great time!
