Help Me Please

Heading to Cincy for our anniversary weekend early November. We usually stay at Embassy in Covington but would like to stay closer to 'everything'. Our goal is not to drive, will take a taxi if we need to, but would rather walk or take shuttle when possible.

Ideas for our weekend include a nice hotel (would like to keep it close to $200 per night) and possibly:

Massages at spa

Nice dinner (nothing super fancy)

Trip to Newport on Leeve

Trip to casino

What other options? We aren't ubber romantic or fancy but enjoy some quality time together.

Id love to hear suggestions for hotel and things to do! Thanks!

Being from Cincinnati, I do not stay in the local hotels very often, however I have friends and coworkers that have stayed at the Residence Inn downtown and they loved it. It is within walking distance of much of the downtown attractions or a very short cab ride. I do not know of many spas to recommend as that is not something that I enjoy. Cincinnati has some excellent restaurants, but what to recommend depends on what your tastes are. If you could provide some more detail on your dining preferences (atmosphere, service/wait time, cuisine, views etc.) I may be able to provide some recommendations.

Check out the Cincinnatian Hotel for something special and beautiful - it's pricey, but they have specials on their website sometimes: www.cincinnatianhotel.com. The restaurant there is well rated, but very fine dining and very expensive. Don't know about this place personally, but it looks interesting and does have a spa: http://www.21cmuseumhotels.com/cincinnati/

There are some great restaurants right in downtown. I'd do a search or give more info as to what you are looking for. If you are looking for something local/authentic to Cincinnati, you might want to look into the Montgomery Inn Boathouse - nice, but not fancy, great food (famous for their ribs/bbq sauce, but they have delicious steaks, fish, chicken, etc.), beautiful view of the river (definitely request a table by the window). Things to do off top of my head: stroll through Fountain Square, go to the top of the Carew Tower, get an ice cream at Graeter's. Smale Park is really nice (very new, right on the river) but not sure how it will be in early November (cold???) You might like some museums (http://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=museums&find_loc=Downtown%2C+Cincinnati%2C+OH).

We have stayed at the Residence Inn on 4th St an earlier poster mentioned. It's a hidden little gem. Free shuttle to the casino and within easy walking distance to The Banks and Fountain Square areas. I would recommend it.

My vote would be for the Cincinnatian. Great location and service. Request one of their remodeled rooms. Large spa like shower, therapy bath tubs, heated floors, tv and docking stations. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are designed beautifully.

Check out the banks for multiple food options.

Many favorites but I would say try Bakersfield on Vine.

Enjoy your stay.

Peace

See if you can get the Hilton Netherlands for under $200. Since you've been here several times before, you've likely gone in there and know that it's quite a special property. Old world elegance and ornate architecture like they don't make anymore.

Agree with Imager. Netherland Hilton downtown is beautiful. They have a nice Happy hour on M-F as does Palomino and McCormick and Schmicks. Have a great trip.
