Ranch accomodation around Yellowstone

We are 2 French families with teenagers travelling from Salt Lake City to Seattle this summer. We would like to experience the western lifestyle and stay in ranches. All accomodation in Yellowstone NP is now fully booked, and I am wondering at the possibility to base ourselves for 3-4 nights in two ranches, to the South and then North of the park, from where we would explore the Yellowstone but also Grand Teton and Glacier. Is that a good idea and has anyone got suggestions about the ranches we might stay at?

Welcome. You have chosen beautiful and fascinating areas to visit.

How many days have you allotted for this entire trip?

What airports will you arrive and depart? Salt Lake City and ?.

Then, we can better suggest an itinerary and time in major locations.

Although the YNP website says lodging is full, that is not necessarily true. The website is never as current as a phone call to Xanterra to find what has become available. Here's the technique (granted, you are not in the states) to do the calling, but if you know someone here...).

Official Lodging and Tour Vendor for Yellowstone National Park (CALL THEM frequently, cancellations occur. Don't use other agencies, they charge a service fee and, in the end, they have to call Xanterra themselves, which you can do for free.) Locations, costs, lodging descriptions are all here.

We are planning to drive from Salt Lake City to San Francisco via Yellowstone, Seattle and the Oregon coast in 3 weeks. So I think we can allocate about 10 days to Wisconsin and Montana. They are the highlights of our trip as we don't want to miss the ranch and western experience. Thanks for your help.

here is a great all inclusive ranch just south of yellowstone. it's in a great location to visit grand teton national park & also fairly convenient to yellowstone, although i'd prefer to stay inside the park if possible.

the food at this place is first class too.
