"Luxury" cabins in Yellowstone?

Hi,

Anyone know of some secluded "luxury" cabins in yellowstone with 2-3 bedrooms and full kitchen? Fireplace, hot tub, 2 bathrooms would also be a plus. We are thinking of taking my husbands' folks. They like to hike, but would appreciate a nice cabin to come back to.

Thanks in advance!

You need to look outside the park - there is nothing like this in Yellowstone. For visiting Yellowstone, you could look on vrbo for rentals in and around West Yellowstone. If you plan to visit the Tetons, then there will surely be something that fits this description in the area around Jackson Hole - there is more luxury accommodation in that area. Just be aware that you can't reasonably do day trips from Jackson Hole to Yellowstone - too far.

lou is correct, you need to look outside the park for such lodging, West Yellowstone area and Gardiner area would be best. BUT, be aware that lodging might claim to be "near" or "close to" YNP, but it's all relative. And when you enter the park, especially from West Yellowstone, you have miles to drive (but worth it) to the major sights.

You really need to study two websites, that of the Park itself, and that of Xanterra, see below. The best lodging in the park are motel like units, Western Cabins and Snow Lodge.

Wyoming/Yellowstone

Park Website: The park website contains an enormous amount of very good information. If what you want is not easily found, use the search box. See “View Map” on home page for interactive map.

http://www.nps.gov/yell/

Official and Only Authorized Lodging Vendor for Yellowstone National Park Don't use other agencies, they charge a service fee and they have to contact Xanterra themselves which you can do for free. Call at least once a day and monitor the website continuously, cancellations occur. Lodging locations, costs, reservations, camping, things to do and much more are here.

Lodging location options for YNP If you have 3 or more days, split lodging locations, the park is vast. Options include, for example, lodge in: West Yellowstone, MT and Canyon or Lake; Old Faithful and Canyon or Lake; OF and Roosevelt or Gardiner or Mammoth.

These splits will minimize your driving. Also, it could be safer because after dark driving makes it difficult to see wildlife. See the park map ("View Map" on the park website home page), to get an idea of what this split would mean.

If you select "Hotels" for the two cities, you'll find many plus ratings. And do a search using key lodging words for the same areas.

For example: http://tinyurl.com/6qnucul

However, for many, the park is the experience, not the lodging, which is simply a place to crash after incredible days exploring.

I saw some great sounding houses on VRBO for Cooke City. It is going to be a long drive visiting all the sights in the park from there. If you are mainly looking for wildlife viewing though, it might not be a bad location. Just make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the rental as well as the park.

Forgot to mention, if you are planning for this summer, I would hurry. It looked like most of the really good rental houses were booking quickly.
