Ranger led programs

Do we need to book/contact ahead of time for these ranger led activities?

www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/rangerprog.htm

It didn't mention anything like that (unless one wants an interpreter).

Can anybody share some info? This is our first time in Yellowstone :)

No pre-booking necessary...just turn up at the appointed time and place.

Pam is correct, with at least one exception I am aware of - the cruise on Yellowstone Lake which has to be reserved through Xanterra in advance. If there is advance reservation required, it will be noted on the ranger program schedule.

Lake cruise is misleading having it there with the others- it is NOT free!

Gosh, it didn't even occur to me the boat cruise was listed as a Ranger program! Thanks Adventuritis for catching that goof on my part!

It tells you in the description that advance reservations are required - and gives the cost of the cruise ($15 for adults/$10 for children). Doesn't seem very misleading to me......besides, it's fun and informative :-)

The misleading part is that the Ranger Programs are usually free, so I never would have looked there for the Lake Cruise. It does state clearly the cost and reservations required, It just doesn't fit with the rest of the free Ranger programs.
